Our Story

Gifts you'll love to give
Hi, I'm Mia, the maker behind Poppy Sonrisa. I make gifts for the newest little ones in your village, so choosing the right one feels easy and giving it feels wonderful.
How it all began
In 2016 I wanted to give a gift that felt as special as the little one it was for. I couldn't find quite the right thing, so I made it: the very first Poppy Sonrisa Sensory Cube. Friends started asking for gifts of their own, and somewhere along the way I fell back in love with sewing.
That same year I made two Santa Sack prototypes for my own family's Christmas morning, for five little cousins. I took them to my very first market, and people loved them. Today our Santa Sacks are part of Christmas in hundreds of homes, and my family still brings ours out every Christmas Eve.
The name
"Poppy" was my parents' nickname for me growing up. "Sonrisa" means "smile" in Spanish, a nod to my Spanish heritage. A smile is exactly what I hope every gift brings.

What we make, and how
Gifts made easy. Bundles and personalised pieces that are ready to give, for baby showers, newborn visits, first Christmases and "just because". Pick a bundle, add a name, and it's ready to give.
Handmade with heart. Our bibs, burp cloths, face washers, sensory rattles and cubes, hooded towels, Santa Sacks and Christmas stockings are handmade in small batches by me in Albury, NSW. Small-batch pieces, stitched by hand, so your gift feels as thoughtful as it is.
Designed and printed by Mia. Our organic onesies, tees and swaddles are made from GOTS organic cotton in India, with prints designed and applied by me. They're here so you can add a soft printed piece to a handmade gift.
Good for babies and the planet. We choose GOTS organic cotton, bamboo/organic cotton towelling, water-based inks, recycled PET fill in our cubes and compostable trays for our gift bundles. Our fabrics are picked for their bright colours and playful prints, with a soft spot for independent designers.
Made to be kept. Every piece is made to be treasured, from the Santa Sack that comes out every Christmas Eve to the cube that stays on the nursery shelf long after the baby years.
Say hello
You'll find me at markets around Albury, Bright, Wagga and Canberra, and Albury locals can pick up their orders from us too. I'd love to help you find the right gift, so please get in touch any time.
Made with our hands and our hearts.
Warmest wishes 🧡 Mia
